Garrett Smith treks to Lucas Oil Speedway for Lucas Oil Spring Nationals
Making the long haul to the state of Missouri, Garrett Smith rolled into Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) on Friday afternoon for the Lucas Oil Spring Nationals.
With a stout 44-car MLRA field on hand, Smith topped his qualifying group and won the first heat race which landed him on the pole for the $7,000-to-win opener. After being penalized for jumping the start, Garrett ran inside the Top-5 before slamming the outside wall and ending his night early.
Hoping for better luck in Saturday's $20,000-to-win finale, Garrett once again showed speed early but was unable to finish the 60-lap main event and recorded a DNF.
